The connections would lead to London, where one of the Rays would be a tough London cop, who looks down on Fraser's backwoods methods. Diefenbaker would be a deaf Deer Hound of unusual intelligence. Everyone else could keep their relative positions in Fraser's life. Francesca would be a young woman rapidly reaching her 'spinsterhood', who tries to lure Fraser all the time. Thatcher would perhaps have to be a secretary, rather than the chief. Welsh would be the chief and Turnbull would be some bumbling idiot constable.
