Grrr, arrgh...

I am in a writing rut. I have things I want to write. I have things I have ideas for. But every time I try and sit down and write them, it all comes out blah. None of the characters will do what I want them to do. Jack and the Doctor won't talk. They have to talk. They're Jack and the Doctor. Rose is being boring. Harry is stubbornly refusing to forward the plot and even my mini!dresdens don't know what's going on. It's quite frustrating.

I suppose if I leave it, things will come eventually. It just feels like when I try to draw - I know what I want it to look like, I know how to go about doing it but my hand just will not create what's in my head.

And it's thunderstorming. I call shenanigans!

I offer donuts to your muse.

My muse says thank you, but she's not coming out from under the bed. :-)

*offers sympathy and a bat for hittings of characters*

Thank you. If I knock them out, though, they aren't much more use, are they? Well, maybe it'll teach them a lesson.

Gyah, that is frustrating. Hope you get unstuck very soon!

Thank you! I hope so too. When I can't be creative, my head feels like it's going explode. I don't want my head to explode. :-p

Absolutely no head-exploding, young lady! *looks stern*

Usually, when I hit writing ruts, I go read things. Reading really good writing can be really inspiring.

That is good advice. I do often get inspired when reading things because I remember why I loved the characters/fandom in the first place. I may need to dose myself up on actual episodes as well, to get me back in the groove. A little Firefly makes everything better. :-)

Yeah, watching the show when you're stuck helps too. You can't go wrong with Firefly, ever.

I hope you get unstuck soon! Ornery characters can be ridiculously frustrating.

Word. I feel like their mother: "Jack, you know you are better than that! Stop standing there doing nothing! Get a haircut!"

*Huggles*
It sucks to get stuck...

Maybe just take a break and have a video or gaming marathon and let the muses take their vacation? Sometimes breaks are needed.
Don't let it get you down... it happens to everyone.

I have been writing pretty much non-stop for over a year now, I was bound to run out of juice eventually. It might be time for a break, as you say. :-D
